Elizabeth Stark is Cofounder and CEO of Lightning Labs, where she is building a programmable financial layer for the internet through fast, scalable blockchain transactions. Further, she is a fellow at Coin Center, the leading digital currency policy organization, and an advisor at Chia, a company building a new blockchain protocol based on proof of space and time. Stark previously taught at Stanford and Yale University about the future of the internet, and was a visiting fellow at Yale’s Information Society Project. Elizabeth played an instrumental role in the Internet freedom effort that defeated SOPA/PIPA, engaging 18 million people worldwide. She has advised startups ranging from decentralized technology to AI and was an entrepreneur-in-residence at Stanford StartX. Stark holds a J.D. from Harvard.

Malavika Shanker

Malavika Shanker spearheads Societe Generale’s sales efforts for the APAC electronic trading franchise within the Global Execution Services team covering cash equities, listed derivatives and the synthetic product. Over the last 18 months at Societe Generale, Malavika has focused on execution consulting with institutional clients, partnering with quants and tech teams to develop customized algorithmic trading solutions. Prior to joining Societe Generale, Malavika was at JP Morgan for 8 years contributing to the build out of the electronic trading business in a product development capacity, and held a number of key positions such as Business Manager for the APAC Prime Brokerage business and Business Manager for the Asia ex-Japan Cash Equities business.

Over the last ten years, Malavika has championed a number of initiatives that have centered around technology’s ability to transform businesses and facilitate growth and development. She is also actively involved with the Hong Kong Fintech community as a mentor within the Hong Kong Supercharger accelerator program. Malavika holds a Masters in International and Public Affairs from Hong Kong University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Singapore Management University.

Max Young

In his role as SVP, Portfolio Management & Trading Solutions at FactSet, John oversees the business unit dedicated to the development of tools portfolio managers and traders use across workflows, throughout each trading day. Previously he served as Global Head of Client & Product Strategy at Portware, where he worked with the firm’s global client advisory board to provide strategic direction to Portware’s full product portfolio, directly contributing to the company’s corporate growth and surge in adoption from large global asset managers.

Prior to joining Portware, John helped to grow Liqudnet’s member base and trading volume in his positions as Director of Product Management, a role in which he standardized and grew the number of Liquidnet’s OMS and EMS vendor interfaces, Director of Corporate Strategy, and as a founding member of the Equity Capital markets team, where he developed their buyback workflow for Liquidnet ATS. Earlier in his career he held senior technology positions at Sybase, Slam Dunk Networks, and NEON. John holds a B.A. in International Relations from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.

Tom Augarde

Thomas Augarde is a Vice President on Credit Suisse’s Electronic Trading team covering both hedge fund and long only algorithmic order flow across non-Japan Asia. A recent joiner to electronic trading in June 2017, Thomas previously spent 10 years working in Credit Suisse’s Prime division with experience in both pan European and APAC markets. It is this experience working in a variety of Prime roles that has allowed Thomas to be an immediate contributor to the broader Electronic Trading coverage group, where clients expect an ever-increasing level of market and regional knowledge. Damian Bierman

Damian Bierman is Head of Asia-Pacific for FactSet's Portfolio Management & Trading business unit. He is responsible for its day-to-day operations and oversees the teams responsible for delivering the full suite of PMT products and services across the region, including Portware EMS. Damian joined Portware in 2007, opening the firm's office in Hong Kong and establishing its presence in the region.

Damian is an active member of the FIX Trading Community, currently serving as Co-Chair of the Asia-Pacific Technical Subcommittee. He has been a mainstay of the organization's Asia-Pacific presence for the past 14 years, playing an active role in promoting the adoption of FIX across the region.

Prior to Portware, Damian ran FIX Services in APAC for NYFIX, setting up its Hong Kong office in 2004. Damian joined Javelin Technologies in New York in 2000, implementing its Appia FIX engine technology at numerous buy- and sell-side institutions globally.

Previously, Damian held a research position at Carnegie Mellon Research Institute in Pittsburgh, PA, working on the DOT-funded Driver Drowsiness Detection & Countermeasures study, as well as a study of expert landmine detection skill for the US Army.

Damian received his B.S. in Cognitive Science from Carnegie Mellon University in May 1997.

Justin Chow

Justin Chow is the Head of Business Development, Asia for Cumberland - a DRW Company, one of the world's largest liquidity providers in cryptocurrencies. After joining DRW in 2015 as a global macro proprietary trader, Justin is now focused on helping the Cumberland team expand and grow its business in Asia.

Prior to DRW, Justin was a global macro trader at hedge fund Citadel, where he specialized in managing portfolios of foreign exchange and liquid futures. Justin started his career as a distressed debt and securities analyst.

Justin earned a BS in economics and psychology from Columbia University.

Martin David

Prior to joining UBS, Martin worked in Barclays as Asian Head of Quantitative Equity Trading, BAML as Asian Head of Quantitative Statistical Arbitrage, Deutsche Bank as Japan Head of QP1 and Lehman Brothers as equity quant.

Martin has a strong background in quantitative and electronic trading and has spent his entire career in Asia.

Roland de Marsangy

Roland has helped Liquidnet expand its geographical presence since joining in 2012. An initial focus on continental European members quickly expanded to include several strategic London accounts. He has also developed the trading platform expansion in emerging markets, including the launch of the on-shore South African market in 2015. In September 2016, Roland relocated to Hong Kong to lead Liquidnet’s business development and market structure efforts in the Asia-Pacific region (currently active in 13 markets).

With the approaching MiFID II legislation due to come into effect, Roland’s recent focus has been on breaking down the complexities of the European regulation for Asia-Pacific based clients.

Roland has a depth of industry experience, previously working at Bloomberg in 2005 before working in Seychelles on the equities desk of an Austrian quant-driven hedge fund in 2009. Roland was listed in Brummel Magazine’s “30 Ones to Watch” in 2014 and Financial News’ “40 Under 40 Rising Stars in Trading and Technology” in 2015.

Joel Hurewitz

Raj Karkara

Raj Karkara is the chief revenue officer and director of tZERO, Overstock.com’s financial technology subsidiary that has built a distributed ledger based platform for capital markets and is applying crypto technology to the financial industry. In this role, he was instrumental in the issuance and sale of the world’s first digital bond in 2015, and in 2016, issuing the world’s first publicly traded digital security, which settled same day using the tZERO platform. In addition, Karkara also serves as vice president of financial services, loyalty and new business development at Overstock.com.  In this role, he manages products such as Club O, Overstock.com’s loyalty program and FinanceHub, a platform which offers multiple financial products for lending, investments, insurance and credit cards.  Before joining Overstock, Karkara was the Director of Global Strategic Product Development at MasterCard, focusing on global mobile payments and mobile identity solutions.  Prior to MasterCard, he was Director of Product at HookLogic (now Criteo), where he helped retailers such as Overstock optimize onsite advertising revenues.  Karkara received a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pune, India and a master's degree in Business and Telecommunications from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Winnie Khattar

Execution Consulting provides advisory services to clients throughout the trade life-cycle; providing solutions to minimize execution footprint by combining quantitative analytics, market microstructure, BofAML flow trends and impact of new and existing regulatory market structure developments. Winnie is an industry-leading subject matter expert on various aspects of market microstructure, and regulatory & structural developments of Asia markets. Winnie also publishes thematic consulting pieces focused on providing clients with effective data and insight for their execution strategies in current active trading environment.

Prior to joining BofAML, Winnie was Head of Equity Trading Analytics at Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong and previous to that she was part of Product Development team in Hong Kong, Risk Analytics team in London and Syndicate team in Mumbai, at Deutsche Bank over a span of 10 years.

She is also a Co-Chair of FIX Trading Community Singapore Working Group.

Yu-Chi Lyra Kuo

Yu-Chi Lyra Kuo is co-founder of a fintech and cryptoassets-focused multistrategy hedge fund in New York City. She is also currently working on a partnership with a large and long-running quantitative hedge fund in New York to launch a second, hybrid futures and crypto-assets fund. Her background combines an interdisciplinary PhD program at Princeton University with a JD from Harvard Law School. At Princeton, Yu-Chi’s research interests included the mind sciences of political and social decision-making, including bringing graph theory and other mathematical methods to bear on the representation of evaluative judgments under different epistemic contexts. At Harvard, Yu-Chi’s research focused on the intersection of law, tech & philosophy well as law & the mind sciences, among other subjects, such as how people make decisions in response to different perceived regulatory constraints. While at Harvard, Yu-Chi also founded a neurogaming start-up to gather data on how people make decisions under different gaming constraints in an environment that combines gambling, learning, and social decisionmaking. In law, Yu-Chi has passed the New York bar, worked at Latham & Watkins with a focus on corporate and finreg law, and clerked for the Chief of Chambers at the United Nations’ International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Yu-Chi has lectured and held fellowships at Princeton, Harvard, and the University of Pennsylvania, where she also holds a B.A. (Phi Beta Kappa).

Before relocating back to Hong Kong, Kitty was Head of China Execution and Trading in UBS Securities Co. in Shanghai. Previously, she was Deputy Head of Trading in SAFE investment company in Hong Kong, where she was responsible for global equites trading. Prior to that Kitty was in UBS Hong Kong for 6 years. Stephane Loiseau

Kevin Loo

Frank Loughlin

Frank Loughlin was appointed Global Co-Head of Equity Trading at AllianceBernstein in 2014. He was most recently responsible for all EMEA equity trading. In his AllianceBernstein career, he has previously held the roles of co-head of Americas trading and head of US value trading. Loughlin joined the firm in 1990 as an associate portfolio manager in equities. He holds a BA in psychology from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA in in finance from the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University. Loughlin is a CFA charterholder and a member of both the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of New York.

Edward Mangles

In this role, John and his team are responsible for ensuring that Thomson Reuters is effectively addressing the industry’s regulatory challenges – of which the likes of MiFID II and FRTB have been particular focus areas – and developing solutions across the entire product range to meet the evolving requirements of the financial market participants.

Prior to joining Thomson Reuters, Mason ran the European Enterprise Solutions for Bloomberg and was also their Global Head of Regulatory Reporting. Before joining Bloomberg Mason was the Chief Operating Officer for Core One Technologies prior to its sale to IHS Markit.

In 2011 he moved to Hong Kong and shifted his research focus to trading. At Instinet, Mr. Mohr has spearheaded big data and machine learning efforts to transform Instinet’s TCA offering from a “trade reporting” function to a “strategic consulting” process. Jessica has a background in market structure for the region having moved to Hong Kong in 2011. Through data analytics, the impact of such changes on the microstructure are researched to see where the character of liquidity is impacted. Where impact is observed, these findings are fed back into the Morgan Stanley service offering helping clients minimise implicit costs and maximise volume capture be it through the Sales Trading, Electronic or Programme Trading teams.

He currently serves as a co-chair of the FIX Global Technical Committee and was recently approved as the next chair of ISO TC68, the ISO Technical Committee for Financial Services.

Jim is a past member of the US Treasury OFR Advisory Committee and the US CFTC Technology Advisory Committee Subcommittee on HFT. He previously served in the roles of FIX Americas Region Co-chair and the co-chair of the FIX Global Derivatives Committee. Jim was awarded the FIA Annual Achievement award in 2006 as part of the team that created FIXML for listed derivatives clearing standardization.

Jim holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Indianapolis and an M.S. in Financial Markets and Trading from Illinois Institute of Technology. Jim is an adjunct instructor of Finance at Michigan Technological University where he teaches Derivatives and Financial Engineering.

David Rogers

After running Deutsche Bank’s regional Asia PT business, David moved to Fidelity Management & Research (HK) to set up their new trading desk, being responsible for Electronic Trading, TCA, market structure and platforms.

At the start of 2017 he joined SSGA as their new Head of Trading for the Asia-Pacific region, having oversight for FX, Equity and Derivatives execution. Trevor Spanner

Trevor Spanner is the Group Chief Information Officer and Group Risk Officer of Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Limited (“HKEX”).

Trevor relocated to Hong Kong in January 2016 as Chief Operating Officer of HKEX, serving previously as the Chief Executive of LME Clear Limited in London. He joined The London Metal Exchange (“LME”) as Head of Post Trade Services in November 2011 and led the strategy, design and implementation of the new clearing house for the LME market, LME Clear. Trevor continues to be a Board Member of LME and LME Clear.

Trevor joined LME from EuroCCP - the European clearing house of the DTCC. He played a leading part in the development and launch of the clearing house, and as Chief Operating Officer he was responsible for its day-to-day business operation. EuroCCP was hugely influential in the reshaping of the clearing landscape following MiFID 1, and has continued to be a major participant in post trade development in Europe.

Prior to EuroCCP Trevor held senior executive positions with Merrill Lynch, UBS and Deutsche Bank, responsible for the delivery of global clearing & settlement services for equities, FX, securities and exchange traded derivatives. In these roles he led and successfully implemented a number of key strategic projects and technology platforms.

Trevor holds a BA (Hons) degree from the University of Kent and is a Chartered Accountant (ACA).

Lisa Taikitsadaporn

Ms. Taikitsadaporn has over 20 years of experience with the FIX Protocol and its use for straight-through processing, covering pre-trade, trade, post-trade, clearing and regulatory reporting across different asset classes. Since founding Brook Path Partners in 2001, she has advised her clients on using FIX beyond just orders and executions into other functional areas that FIX supports today. More recently she has been consulting on using FIX to support regulatory reporting requirements for different regimes including Dodd-Frank, and MiFID II / MiFIR reporting regimes.

Between 2012 and 2015 the Brook Path team was commissioned to work with FIX and the Futures Industry Association (FIA) members to enhance the FIX Protocol to support OTC derivatives, and worked with the FIA to submit enhancement requests for FIX to support various different aspects of Dodd-Frank reporting requirements that affects their clearing members. The Brook Path team currently is supporting their clients' and FIX Trading Community's EMEA working groups and the Global Technical Committee in their efforts to enhance FIX Protocol to support ESMA MiFID II and MiFIR reporting regimes.

Ms. Taikitsadaporn also serves as a subject matter expert in FIX's collaboration with the ISO 20022 standard. She also represents FIX Trading Community on the Accredited Standards Committee's X9D sub-committee, ISO TC68's ISO20022 Registration Management Group, TC68's Working Group 5 (Semantics Working Group), TC68/SC4's Working Group 6 (Classification of Financial Instruments (CFI) Working Group), and TC68/TAG 1 (Technical Advisory Group 1). She is also one of the liaisons representing FIX Trading Community in other standards groups such as the Object Management Group.

Ping Tan

Ping Tan is senior EFX trader at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. She heads the global team of Electronic FX traders overseeing the principal EFX liquidity provision and agency FX business which runs on a 24/5 basis from Hong Kong to London to New York. In addition to managing risks for the electronic franchise, she is also heavily involved in building out products to expand the BAML e-offering.

Ping joined BAML Singapore office in 2004 as a FX Emerging Markets trader, and relocated to BAML London office in 2006 with the same role. In 2007, she moved to the EFX business, where she spent most of her 10 years in London prior to her relocation to Hong Kong in end 2015. She continues her global EFX role in Hong Kong but with a focus on product initiatives in the region, specifically focusing on FICC Emerging Markets.

On the D&I front, Ping has always been passionate in CSR/ESG space where she was awarded one of the 28 Global Volunteers in 2016 in recognition of her CSR contributions. She is also serving on the BAML HK Philanthrophy Board advising on NGO grants and volunteering strategies. On the Employee Networks, she is the co-chair in the HK Parents & Caregivers Network, and also sits on the APAC Women Leadership Council.
