filmed reports. Following every edition of Asia Business Report, there is a one-minute update on the
market indices in Asia.
Rico joined BBC World after eight years with the financial and business news network CNBC, also based
in Singapore, where he was the resident anchor of the morning edition of Market Watch and Power Lunch.
Before working at CNBC, Rico was an anchor and business reporter at the Manila-based GMA-7 network,
responsible for covering capital markets, banking and finance, real estate, investment and corporate
development news. Rico was also a regular contributor to CNN's World Report. For five years, Rico
anchored a one-hour daily business programme, Business Today, and GMA-7's hourly bulletin service
GMA News Live. He was a relief anchor for GMA-7's evening newscast GMA Network News, as well as
supervising producer and writer of the multi-award winning television public affairs programmes
Viewpoint and Issues and Answers. Rico also anchored a daily market-driven show, Stock Market Live
from the trading floor of the Philippine Stock Exchange.
Before entering the broadcast industry, Rico was a lecturer in the Communication Arts Department of
De La Salle University in his home country, the Philippines. Rico has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Broadcast Journalism from De La Salle University.

Chris Jenkins

Chris Jenkins is Executive Director for TORA Trading, he is responsible for the

Prior to this, Mr. Jenkins was the Regional Head of Sales for SWIFTNet FIX and was
responsible for the SWIFTNet FIX Programme in Asia Pacific. Before joining SWIFT, Mr. Jenkins worked
at Macgregor and set-up their operation in Hong Kong. He spent 3 years working at AXA Investment
Management in London and prior to that worked for Midland Stockbrokers.
Mr. Jenkins has been an active member and supporter of FPL in Hong Kong and is
currently the Co-Chair of the Education and Marketing Committee of FPL in Asia promoting the use of
Electronic trading throughout the region.
George Molina

George Molina is the Asian head of trading for Franklin Templeton's Asian Trading
desks located locally in Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea and Shanghai. He joined Franklin Templeton
Investments in 1997 as a member of their Global Trading Group based out of Florida, USA before being
transferred to Hong Kong in 2002.
Prior to joining Franklin Templeton Mr. Molina worked for
the Scudder Kemper group trading Asian Securities. He is currently Co-chairman of FIX Protocol
Limited Asia where he is responsible for the promotion of electronic trading in the region.
Dean Chisholm

Dean Chisholm is responsible for a wide range of Operations functions in the Asia
Pacific region at INVESCO, a division of AMVESCAP plc with USD 462.6 billion of asset under management
as at end of December 2006. AMVESCAP is a listed independent investment group, not related to any bank,
trustee, custodian, insurance company or other financial institution. In Asia Pacific INVESCO have fund
management operations in Hong Kong, Melbourne, Taipei, Tokyo, Singapore and a joint venture in the PRC,
manufacturing and distributing investment funds and other fund management products. Between 1995 and
1998, he was responsible for the regional Operations functions of LGT Asset Management before the
acquisition by INVESCO. From 1984 to 1993, he worked for PWC audit division in London and Hong Kong
serving financial services clients. He is a past Chairman of the Hong Kong Securities Industry Group
and currently Co Chairman of the OMGEO Hong Kong Advisory Board. Mr. Chisholm has a Bachelor of Science
in Monetary Economics from the London School of Economics. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of England and Wales and is an Associate of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants.
Patrick Lawlor

Patrick Lawlor is an Executive Director and the Head of Electronic Trading at
Macquarie Securities where he has been responsible for the development of Macquarie's electronic
execution platform. Prior to that, Patrick was the COO of Macquarie Securities and formerly the
Business Manager of ING Securities where he helped to manage the acquisition of ING's Asian cash
equities businesses by Macquarie Bank. Patrick has worked in the Asian markets for over 17 years
in a variety of roles.

after working for a large hedge fund. He headed the Hong Kong and Tokyo stock lending desk till 2004.
Chris is currently based in Hong Kong.

John Fildes

E. John Fildes is the Managing Director of Instinet Pacific, responsible for all
the operations of Instinet in non-Japan Asia. Prior to this he was with Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong
for 10 years where he held positions as the Head of Equity Marketing and Head of Electronic and
Program Trading for the Institutional Equity Division in Asia-Pacific. He also represents Instinet
on the Asia Pacific FIX (Financial Information Exchange Protocol) Steering Committee and is active
in promoting the protocol throughout the region. He has written and spoken extensively on the subject.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley Mr. Fildes held various positions in Europe with the Financial Times
Group, Standard and Poor's and Reuters and has an extensive knowledge of the financial information

Rob Flatley

Alasdair Haynes

Alasdair Haynes is CEO of ITG's International business. Alasdair began his City career
in the Treasury Division of Morgan Grenfell, where he spent time in London and Singapore. He moved into

Index Options on the London Traded Options Market. Since then Alasdair has spent time working in the
global securities industry - first for Bankers Trust, where he set up the short term UK equity derivatives

London and Paris. Alasdair joined HSBC James Capel in 1996 as Director and Head of Global Equity

was Vice President, Electronic Sales and Trading for Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong, specializing in

Eric Goldberg

Joseph Ahearn

Joseph Ahearn, is a Co-Founder, Chief Technology Officer and a Director of
TradingScreen Inc., since March 2000. From 1995 to March 2000, as a Director at Credit Suisse First
Boston responsible for Fixed Income Front Office E-Commerce Trading Application Development, Joe was
leading the development of internet based applications. At CSFB, he designed, developed and managed
electronic trading systems for all major financial markets and functioned as chief technology officer
of CSFB's PrimeWorld family of e-commerce financial products. In this capacity, Joe was responsible
for product development, architecture design, technical infrastructure and project management.
From 1987 to 1995, Joe managed CSFB's Equity Technology group in Tokyo, which built program-trading
applications and electronic exchange connections to all major markets in Japan, and established the
first Straight Through Processing engine, from trader to clearing agent, in the Japanese market.
Prior to his assignment in Japan (from 1984 to 1987), Joe developed personal computer-based financial

Rajeev Baddepudi

Rajeev Baddepudi is the Senior Analyst at Eurekahedge, an alternative investment

Rajeev is responsible for monitoring and reporting on key trends in each of the

Jonathan Field

Jonathan has over 20 years experience in the financial services industry, and has

15 years with the Hoenig Group (now part of ITG Group) in London and Hong Kong, where his last position
was as Director, Sales and Marketing covering the Asian region.
Jonathan's career has focused increasingly in recent years on servicing the growing
alternative investment industry within the Asian region and globally, having gained extensive experience
in dealing with the most senior players in both the alternative and traditional community.
Jonathan is a UK citizen and member of the UK Securities Institute as well as the
Hong Kong Securities Institute.
Hannah Goodwin

Hannah Goodwin is the Managing Director of the Prime Brokerage and Equities Finance

& Co Ltd., Credit Suisse First Boston and finally St James' Place Capital. Ms. Goodwin started her
Prime brokerage career when she came to Hong Kong with Morgan Stanley in mid 1994. During that time,
she covered operations, client service, transition and sales. In 2000, she joined Deutsche Bank Asia
Ltd to set up and launch their Asia PB business. Ms. Goodwin joined Citigroup in April 2005 to build
out and establish the Prime Brokerage business in Asia ex Japan.
Rocco Paduano

Rocco Paduano is Head of Risk Management for HindSight Investment Management with
overall responsibilities for managing risk and operations. Prior to setting up HindSight with his
partners, he was Executive Director in Prime Brokerage Risk Management for Goldman Sachs International.
Prior to Goldman Sachs, he was Vice President in Prime Brokerage Risk Management for Morgan Stanley &
Co. International, in the Equity Financing Services area, where he oversaw daily operations of the
financial risk management desk within International Prime Brokerage. His responsibilities included
overseeing and managing financial risk for all of the prime brokerage clients operating in Europe and
Asia, and investing across a diverse spectrum of strategies. Constructing and implementing stress

Peter Douglas

Peter Douglas has over 21 years experience in the investment management industry,
gained in London, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo.

engaged exclusively in the research of hedge funds and their managers. Established in 1998, GFIA is
Asia's oldest hedge fund consultancy, compensated solely by fully disclosed fees from investors and
allocators. Since 2004, GFIA has also offered coverage of the Latin American hedge fund industry.
Peter began his career spending 10 years with the Foreign & Colonial group of asset
management companies, including managing the product development of Latin American Securities (latterly
F&C Emerging Markets), before setting up Aberdeen Asset Management's business activities in Singapore,
and working with Investor Select Advisors, a global fund of hedge funds, where he was responsible for
research and allocation to Asian hedge funds.
Peter is the inaugural Council Member for Singapore for the Alternative Investment
Management Association www.aima.org , the global industry body for hedge fund practitioners. He was
the inaugural honorary secretary and a founder of the Financial Planning Association of Singapore
www.fpas.org.sg and remains special advisor to the association. Peter holds an honours degree from
the University of Exeter, U.K., an Investment Management Certificate from I.I.M.R. in the U.K., an
MBA from INSEAD in France, and is a pioneer-cohort Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA)

Peter sits on the board of the CAIA Association, and is a member of the MBA

Ron Newell

Ron has served in both business and technology roles for the past 12 years developing
electronic markets. Having joined the Singapore Exchange (SGX) in January 2005, he currently heads

Products and Services division, heading its Market Services Management group, which owns the SGX QUEST
electronic trading platform.
Ron moved to SGX from Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), where he was Business System
Architect for the CME GLOBEX trading system. Ron has been an active contributor to the FIX protocol
since release 4.2 and instrumental in FPL adopting the FAST transport.
Tetsuo Otashiro

Tetsuo Otashiro is General Manager and Chief Representative of the Singapore Office
for Tokyo Stock Exchange Inc.
Mr. Otashiro joined Tokyo Stock Exchange Inc. in 1990. In 1992,
he was promoted to Listing Examiner where he was in charge of listing examinations for domestic and
foreign listing applicant companies. In 2003, Tetsuo was made Project Manager of the Information
System Department. Mr. Otashiro was in charge of project management for system developments of TSE
MAINS (real-time price dissemination system), Stock Index Calculation System and TOSTNET Trading
System.
Mr. Otashiro was educated at Waseda University. He graduated from Faculty of Political
Science and Economics.
Sam Johnson

Sam runs the commercial trading technology products and services business for NYSE
Euronext. His group, NYSE TransactTools, provides network, hosting, and a common, global connectivity
infrastructure to exchanges and market participants. NYSE Euronext has announced partnerships and
alliances with both Tokyo Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange in India already in 2007,
and Sam's group leads the technology integration efforts for these relationships and others that will

Omar Merican is the Chief Operating Officer of Bursa Malaysia Berhad. Prior to
joining Bursa he was founder and Chief Executive Officer of a fund management company, Merican &
Partners Asset Management Sdn. Bhd. from 1997 to 2004. Omar also spent over 10 years in international
financial houses including Salomon Brothers, James Capel and O'Connor Associates. He has a Masters
in Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Economics from the
University of Birmingham, England.

Rob Fowler has been directly involved in the development of electronic trading
and order routing systems for the past thirteen years. He has delivered systems to a diverse range
of clients such as ICAP, and the SWX Swiss Exchange to the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Moscow
Interbank Currency Exchange. For the last eight years he has run a team that analyses, develops
and deploys the interfaces between central trading systems and external systems. His team has
developed and delivered 11 FIX gateways into production and a further 12 gateways utilizing a diverse
range of proprietary and open protocols. Over the last 13 years he has seen the delivery of electronic
interfaces grow from mainly an internal facility to become the primary interface for exchange
participation.

Grace Lin is in charge of the electronic trading business for Asian markets in the
Equities Division of Citigroup. Ms. Lin has worked in Franklin Templeton Investments in the U.S.,
UBS and Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong prior to joining Citigroup in 2003. Ms. Lin has been one of the
pioneers of FIX in Asia Pacific promoting the protocol as well as electronic trading since 1999.
