Nidhi Aggarwal is currently a consultant with the Macro-Finance Group, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, Delhi. Previously, she was working with the Finance Research Group at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai where she worked on issues related to securities market in India. She has done extensive work on algorithmic trading and its impact, regulatory interventions and their impact on market quality and other issues surrounding the Indian equity markets.
Sanjay Awasthi is a Director at Eastspring Investments (Singapore) Limited (formerly Prudential Asset Management). Sanjay has close to 20 years of experience in the Securities Market and is actively trading equity and derivatives in India and other markets in the region.
Sankarson is the CTO-Projects for National Stock Exchange. Previously, he was Managing Director, Cloud and Mobility for Accenture. He has earlier been the group CIO of IIFL and held positions in the Future Group, Mphasis, TDA Capital Partners and IBM.
A graduate of IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta, Sankarson has spent 22 years in the industry, 12 of them in CXO roles. In the course of his career, Sankarson has implemented complex websites, trading applications, ERP and supply chain solutions. He has managed balance sheets, advised on technology strategies, founded companies, built teams, negotiated and implemented large contracts. He has managed nationwide IT setups with hundreds of offices, thousands of devices and millions of real time transactions.
An enthusiastic traveller, cyclist and runner, he has cycled all over the world in every kind of weather, and last ran the Mumbai full marathon in 2014.
Joseph's role covers the development of policy, and provision of advice, across the Australian electronic markets. He heads the Business Intelligence team within ASIC's Market Integrity Group and is involved in the surveillance of Australia's financial markets (including equities, listed equity derivatives, exchange traded funds and listed futures contracts) and the development of thematic models using ASIC's enhanced surveillance systems. Prior to joining ASIC, Joseph worked as a Quantitative Analyst developing risk analytics and trading algorithms across local and global markets in equity, equity derivatives and wholesale FX products.
Vikramjeet Bhatti has close to 20 years of experience in managing Information Technology Solutions business.
He has extensive experience in managing business operations, strategic sales and channel management and has represented companies such as Blue Coat, IBM Software Group, FireEye and A10 Networks and has played pivotal roles in establishing and growth of the respective businesses across the region.
Damian Bierman is the Head of Asia-Pacific for Portware LLC, a FactSet Company, based in Hong Kong. He is responsible for directing Portware's operations throughout APAC and for overseeing its client services, account management, and technical support teams.
Damian is also an active member of the FIX Trading Community, currently serving as Co-Chair of the Asia-Pacific Technical Subcommittee. He has been a mainstay of the organization’s Asia-Pacific presence for the past 12 years, playing an active role in promoting the adoption of FIX across the region.
Prior to Portware, Damian was Director of FIX Product Services in APAC for Javelin Technologies (a subsidiary of NYFIX, Inc), relocating to Hong Kong in 2004 to establish the firm's Asia presence and to develop its regional FIX product offering. Prior to this, Damian lead Javelin's Quality Assurance team, building a robust testing process for the firm's FIX technology suite. Damian joined Javelin in 2000 as a Client Manager, based in New York, implementing FIX technology at a long list of buy- and sell-side institutions.
Prior to his career in financial technology, Damian held a research position at Carnegie Mellon Research Institute, where he was involved with the DOT-funded Driver Drowsiness Detection & Countermeasures study, and contributed to the development of a threshold-based, infrared camera system for non-invasively detecting driver drowsiness based on percentage eye closure. Following its completion, Damian was involved in a study of expert landmine detection skill for the US Army, where he helped to develop a robust training protocol for novice operators based on critical elements of expert landmine detection performance. Through the course of his research, Damian has four journal publications to his credit.
Damian received his B.S. in Cognitive Science from Carnegie Mellon University in May 1997.
Eugene Budovsky runs the Autobahn Equities electronic execution platform in Australia and New Zealand, and has responsibilities that cover sales, trading, connectivity, and product development. He has been with Deutsche Bank since 2009, prior to which he held a trading role with Citi in Sydney.
Eugene has 10 years front office experience in Asian equities market with roles covering electronic execution, portfolio trading, facilitation, and ETF market making.
Abhishek is a Vice President in the Platform Sales team within Citi’s Markets and Securities Services business in Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, his role covers cross-channel execution sales, execution consulting and market microstructure research for Citi’s institutional clients throughout the region. Abhishek has over 6 years’ experience in Equity Trading Analytics and specializes in helping clients understand the source of their transaction costs, how to reduce them and how they are impacted by the ever-changing market microstructure. Prior to joining Citi, Abhishek worked at ITG and Nomura. Abhishek holds a BTech in Engineering from IIT-Delhi.
Anshuman Das is Head of Technology for Edelweiss Global Markets, the proprietary trading business unit of Edelweiss, a large Indian multinational finance company.
He has above 12 years of experience in IT in the financial services domain especially institutional algorithmic trading and HFT.
He was earlier globally heading the Cross Asset Pre-Trade Controls Technology at Citi and also leading the Equities Core Technologies unit at Citi’s Pune centre.

Nanik Daswani is a Hong Kong-based member of J.P. Morgan’s Asia Pacific Equities Execution Services team, who is responsible for developing cutting-edge electronic connectivity solutions for clients and delivering programs for the firm’s trading partners to facilitate their client services. His experience in electronic trading spans across 11 years, including five years at J.P. Morgan in Hong Kong. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Nanik worked at Tora Trading Services and S.W.I.F.T.
Joy Francis works with the Electronic Trading Team at UBS where his primary responsibility is to Lead the India Electronic Trading Business.
He has worked extensively with Global Algorithmic Solutions Providers, FIX Technology Partners, and has been providing an understanding on Algorithmic analysis & suitability in line with Indian Microstructure.

Kumar Goradia looks after business development and general operations of the Tower Research Capital group in India. Prior to that, he was the country markets technology manager at JP Morgan India. Kumar has also managed the equity, listed derivatives, and operations technology initiatives of Citigroup Global Markets in the country.
Earlier he looked after application technology, algorithmic trading, quantitative studies, and India access products for the Institutional business of MF Global India, as well as treasury technology at ICICI Bank. Kumar began his markets career at a private Indian brokerage, where he ran arbitrage trading, B2B franchise solutions, clearing, risk management, compliance, back office, & sales.
Kumar has served on the BSE's technology committee, and is currently the Co-Chair of the India Working Group, FIX Trading Community. Kumar has a B.E. from the University of Bombay, and an M.S. from Virginia Tech in the United States.
Ganesh Iyer, CAIA, is Global Product Marketing Director for Financial Markets Network at IPC, a leading provider of specialized communications and managed network-as-a-service solutions for the capital markets. Josephine Kim is responsible for Bank of America Merrill Lynch's Global Execution Services (GES) Sales in Asia. GES provides Direct Market Access, multi asset algorithmic strategies, analytics and execution consulting services throughout the world. Josephine actively participates in industry consultations through various expert opinion editorials and events across Asia. She is also a Co-Chair of FIX Trading Community Singapore Working Group.
Has been associated with Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), a premier autonomous regulatory body for securities market in India, for almost 20 years.
Started his career with SEBI in 1996 as an Officer and is currently placed as Chief General Manager in MRD of SEBI. Prior to this he has worked in various departments such as Market Intermediaries Regulation and Supervision Department (MIRSD), Integrated Surveillance Department (ISD).
He has also worked with two Whole Time Members as an Executive Assistant.
He has been associated with key SEBI initiatives as Nodal Officer such as Accounting Standards Committee chaired by Y H Malegam, Corporate Governance Committee chaired by Narayana Murthy. He has been the Member of the core group that successfully designed and implemented Integrated Market Surveillance System. Currently, he was member secretary of the Committee on Review of Eligibility Norms for market intermediaries (CORE).

Mr. Edward Mangles is the founder and Publisher of GlobalTrading, the official publication of the FIX Trading Community. He has a long history within the financial technology sector and has worked closely with FIX Trading Community for a number of years. He has supported the organisation’s Asia Pacific committee for the past 13 years, playing a key role in promoting FIX adoption across the region. He has also worked for leading financial publishing and marketing firms in both London and Hong Kong. Venu Palaparthi is Senior Vice President for Regulatory and Government Affairs at Virtu Financial. Between 2011 and 2014, Mr. Palaparthi was a Vice President in the Global Trading and Market Services division at Nasdaq. In that role, Mr. Palaparthi led various regulatory, market structure and post-execution initiatives for Nasdaq’s U.S. marketplaces. Dr. Susan Thomas holds degrees in civil engineering and economics from IIT, Bombay and University of Southern California, Los Angeles, respectively. She is faculty at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Bombay. Her research has been in financial econometrics, specifically modelling volatility of prices, and analysing aspects of market microstructure in Indian financial markets. She has worked on projects with the World Bank, IFC, ADB, NSE, India, FMC and the MoF.
