Meyer "Sandy" Frucher

The NASDAQ OMX Group


Meyer "Sandy" Frucher is Vice Chairman of The NASDAQ OMX Group. In this role, Mr. Frucher is responsible for global exchange relationships and serves as a senior advisor to NASDAQ OMX’s senior management team on a broad range of industry and regulatory issues. He joined the exchange after NASDAQ OMX completed its acquisition of The Philadelphia Stock Exchange, known today as NASDAQ OMX PHLX, on July 24, 2008.

From June 1998, Mr. Frucher was Chairman and CEO of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange.

Under Mr. Frucher's leadership, the PHLX built an advanced trading system that set new industry standards for exchange trading technology. He also led the effort to demutualize the Exchange making the PHLX the first floor-based exchange to convert from a seat-owned, mutual cooperative institution to a for-profit, shareholding Delaware company. In 2005, Mr. Frucher enhanced the PHLX’s competitive position by striking strategic alliances with six key Wall Street and derivatives firms including Citadel Derivatives Trading Group LLC, Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and UBS. Each firm made significant investments in the PHLX.

Mr. Frucher also spearheaded the revitalization of the Philadelphia Board of Trade (PBOT), the futures market subsidiary to the PHLX.

Before Mr. Frucher came to the PHLX, he gained extensive experience in business, government and labor relations. Among other positions, he has served as a Management Consultant to major organizations including World Financial Properties Inc., formerly Olympia and York. He served as Executive Vice President of Development for Olympia and York from 1988 to 1996, where he coordinated and oversaw all development projects in the U.S. Mr. Frucher led two major, quasi-public authorities in New York where he was responsible for the development, financing and construction of complex, large-scale public and private facilities. He served from 1984 to 1988 as President and CEO of the Battery Park City Authority in New York City. Mr. Frucher was Chief Labor Negotiator for the state of New York from 1978 to 1983.

In addition to his responsibilities at the PHLX, Mr. Frucher is the founding chairman and trustee emeritus of the Board of the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, an institution responsible for developing the largest center for contemporary visual and performing arts in the United States. He also sits on the Board of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center located in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Mr. Frucher received a Bachelor's degree in Government from Columbia University. He earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

S. Ramann

Mr. S Ramann, a member of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service became Executive Director in August, 2011. Earlier, he was Officer on Special Duty at SEBI from January 2007 at the grade of Chief General Manager. As Executive Director SEBI, he is heading the crucial portfolios of the Market Regulation Department (MRD) and the Integrated Surveillance Department (ISD).

As head of MRD, Mr. Ramann is responsible for laying down policy framework for the Secondary Securities Market (stock exchanges and depositories), derivatives market and for introduction of new products in the Indian securities market. As head of ISD, he has led successful enforcement of a number of high profile cases, besides introducing various policy initiatives and technological advancements in SEBI including implementation of the Integrated Market Surveillance System (IMSS) and the Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence System (DWBIS). Both the systems are contributing to the effective surveillance and investigation functions by SEBI.

Mr. Ramann, a trained AML/CFT assessor, was a member of the Core Working Team, formed by the Government of India for pursuing the Indian membership of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). In that capacity, he has led SEBI in the joint FATF/APG mutual evaluation of India.

In the past, Mr. Ramann has held positions in the Government of India such as Executive Assistant to the Comptroller & Auditor General of India and First Secretary (Audit) at the Indian High Commission, UK, London.

By qualification, Mr. Ramann is BA, Economics (Hons.) from St. Stephen’s College, MBA from FMS Delhi, MSc (Regulation) from London School of Economics, Post Graduate Diploma in Securities Law from GLC, Mumbai and is a Certified Internal Auditor, Institute of Internal Auditors, Florida, USA.

Narendra Ahlawat

Mr. Narendra Ahlawat heads the Market Operations, Technology and Customer Service departments at MCX Stock Exchange (MCX-SX). He is a veteran finance professional with over 25 years of experience, including 16 years in the Securities Industry. Owing to his long stint in this industry and hands-on experience in different aspects of securities and derivatives market, Mr. Ahlawat has gained a deep insight into policies and practices related to the sector.

Mr. Ahlawat holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management from IRMA and has been a rank-holder in his class. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst from Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India, Hyderabad. To add to his credentials, he is also a certified Six Sigma Greenbelt holder.

Parag Ajmera

Mr. Parag Ajmera is responsible for FTIL's suite of trading technology products. He strategizes, oversees and guides the creation of new generation trading technology products which enable Indian brokerage houses and other investors to seamlessly connect to various exchanges and trade in multi-asset classes including equity, commodity, currency and energy.

Mr. Ajmera brings along nearly two decades of rich professional experience, which includes more than 8 years in the United States of America (USA). While in the USA, he has worked in many reputed organizations in BFSI and Telecom Sector.

Mr. Ajmera is a techno-functional expert with an in-depth understanding of the financial markets. His deep understanding of the trading technology business as well as the IT processes including Equity and Derivative Trade Life cycle, Art Auction Life Cycle, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Project Life Cycle (PLC) stands him in great stead to lead the Marketing, Sales, Pre-Sales Teams of FTIL. Ashishkumar Chauhan

Ashish is the MD & CEO of the BSE Ltd., Asia's first stock exchange. He serves on the Board of ICCL, CDSL, USE, BOISL, BSE Training Institute and Marketplace Technologies Limited and is a member of the Board of Governors of IIIT D&M, Jabalpur. He serves on several government and regulatory committees; CBDT, SEBI and FMC, among others.

Ashish was part of the 5 member team that set up NSE and set up NSE's equities and derivatives segments. He was the Group CIO of the Reliance group and was ranked amongst the top 50 CIOs in the world by several magazines and institutions. He also headed the Corporate Communications for Reliance group in between and was the CEO of Mumbai Indians.

Ashish holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay and PGDM from IIM Calcutta.

David Firmin is head of Instinet's Global Trading Research group in Asia and is responsible for algorithmic trading product and development as well as pre-, real-time and post-trade analytics for the region. David joined Instinet in 2002 as part of their European algorithmic trading team. Before moving to Asia in early 2012, he held senior roles in the algorithmic and systematic trading groups of both Instinet New York and Instinet Europe specialising in the design and development of cash equity algorithmic trading strategies.

Prior to joining Instinet, David worked as a business and technical analyst in London and Frankfurt for Capco, a consulting firm specialising in the finance industry. David holds an MSci (Hons) degree in Chemistry having studied at the University of Bristol, UK and the University of Heidelberg, Germany.

Kumar Goradia

Kumar Goradia manages front and back office technology for JP Morgan's markets facing businesses in India. Prior to JP Morgan, he managed the equity, listed derivatives, and operations technology initiatives of Citigroup Global Markets in the country. He has also looked after application technology, algorithmic trading, quantitative studies, and India access products for the Institutional business of MF Global India, as well as treasury technology at ICICI Bank and brokerage industry software services at Mphasis Ltd.

Additionally, Kumar spent 10 years with a private Indian brokerage, where he ran arbitrage trading, B2B franchise solutions, clearing, risk management, compliance, back office, & sales. He also served on the BSE’s technology committee, and is currently India co-chair of FPL.

Kumar has a B.E. from the University of Bombay, and an M.S. from Virginia Tech in the United States.

Rob Hodgkinson

Rob Hodgkinson has worked in Information Technology, developing software in financial markets with a focus on financial mathematics, for over thirty years.

In 1992 Rob co-founded Financial Market Software Consultants (FMSC) and developed the Automated Securities Trading System, which was sold to many securities exchanges throughout the world including Shanghai, Jakarta, Moscow, Montreal, Istanbul, Oslo, Helsinki, and Budapest before the company was sold to Computershare and the system acquired by Nasdaq OMX.

Rob is currently a director of First Derivatives (Australia) Pty Ltd, a company specialising in capital markets projects. Rob heads up the exchange initiative, developing low latency solutions for exchanges globally, wherein high-frequency and algo trading technology is applied behind the exchange to capture, monitor and analyse all streaming market data for market monitoring, compliance and surveillance.

Anant Jatia

Anant is the Co-Founder and Director of Forefront Capital Management, a leading India focused quantitative investment manager managing discretionary and advisory mandates for institutional and high net worth investors. Forefront launched India’s first domestic hedge fund under SEBI’s Alternative Investment Fund Regulations.

Prior to co-founding Forefront Capital Management, Anant was a portfolio manager at AQR Capital Management, a seventy billion dollar quantitative asset management firm in Greenwich (Connecticut), USA. As a member of the Global Stock Selection team, Anant researched and built systematic stock selection and sector selection models for developed and emerging equity markets. Suprabhat Lala, Vice President, heads the Trade Department at the National Stock Exchange of India (NSEIL). During his ten year tenure at the organization, he has handled various portfolios at NSE. He has extensive experience of around 21 years in the area of finance. Prior to his current posting, he has managed operations for a premier sell side brokerage house, one of the largest in the retail segment. There, he was responsible for all businesses including equities, derivatives, clearing and depository, and prime brokerage.

Suneeth Reddy

Suneeth is the Director at QuantInsti, where he is also part of the faculty for the esteemed E-PAT program. He is also the Vice President Technology at iRageCapital, an algorithmic trading technology advisory firm, where he leads the firm's efforts on the technology and innovation fronts.

Prior to iRage, Suneeth was with Lime Group where he was instrumental in developing the core infrastructure for Lime in its early days. Prior to that, he was with Yahoo! R&D where he designed extremely large and scalable architectures targeted at low latency processing of news feeds. He has also done extensive research in DNA Computing and protein computing. His work has been presented at 'Symposium of Unconventional Models of Computing'.

Vaibhav Sanghavi

Vaibhav has been a part of the Investment Advisory team at Ambit since 2008.

Vaibhav, in Ambit manages proprietary money in equity using long short strategy. He also advises couple of offshore funds, investing in India on different strategies. He has generated excellent risk adjusted returns in all types of market. He is instrumental in establishing an AIF (Alternate Investment Fund) for Ambit Investment Advisors in India under the newly issued guidelines by SEBI.

He has an extensive experience across equity proprietary trading and private banking. Prior to joining Ambit, he was the Vice-President of Strategic Risk Group at DSP Merrill Lynch, managing Long/short equity proprietary book as a part of the global group. He managed to generate absolute revenue in a volatile market and outperformed every index in the Indian market and almost all industry players. He was in charge of managing a fund of over USD 550 Mn including managing the risk of the total book onshore and offshore. He also liaised with different market intelligence groups, analyzing the market, sector and stock trends to maximize the risk adjusted returns.

His other previous stints include HDFC Bank where he advised the private banking group on equity recommendations and provided market intelligence.

Vaibhav holds a B.Com degree and is a Chartered Accountant by qualification.

He is also a Member of the Governing Board of MCX-SX, which consists of seasoned Regulators, financial market experts, domain specialists, experienced market practitioners and acclaimed academicians.

Prior to joining MCX Stock Exchange, Mr. U Venkataraman was the Head of Treasury at IDBI Bank in Mumbai. His expertise and experience cover a broad business and Product Spectrum - Asset Liability Management, Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income and Derivatives. He has attended several Training Programs in India and abroad in subjects related to Resource Management, Foreign Exchange, Technical Analysis, Trade Finance and International Payments.

Tepin became a leading provider of connectivity testing tools for the largest and most complex buy side and sell side firms. Mark has a passion for making FIX easy to scale and support. Tepin was acquired by FIX Flyer in 2007. FIX Flyer has offices in New York, Boston and Hyderabad with over 160 clients globally and counts some of the world’s greatest financial and technology institutions as partners. Frédéric Villain

Prior to joining ULLINK, Frederic worked for GL TRADE (now SUNGARD Global Trading) for 5 years, in the Professional Services and International Sales Divisions. Before moving into the Financial Markets software industry, Frederic worked on ALCATEL's mobile navigators for 2 years and on SAFRAN’s fingerprints recognition systems for 2 years. Frederic has degrees from Florida State University and University of Paris - Sorbonne.

Shrinivas Viswanath

Shrinivas cofounded RKSV Securities in 2009 and is currently the Chief Technology Officer. He has experience developing low latency trading systems spanning from exchange connectivity to trading strategies. Prior to founding RKSV, Shrinivas was with Citigroup in Chicago as a technology analyst. Shrinivas graduated with a BS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign.

Balasubramaniam Venkataramani

Mr. V. Balasubramaniam (Bala) has more than 2 decades of experience in managing business and technology operations in the capital markets and derivatives market industry. He did his Masters in Commerce from the University of Mumbai and a Rank holder from the Institute of Costs and Works Accountants of India. He is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor.

He was part of the Core team involved in setting up the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and played a key role in the setting up of NSE trading systems for the Equity segment, creation of indices (Nifty 50), introduction of Certification program and Equity Derivatives market segment of NSE. Post his tenure at NSE, he joined the Reliance Group and worked there for a decade where he was involved in numerous initiatives including handling the automation efforts for various verticals in the group. He also set up and operated the brokerage business at Basis Point Securities and Basis Point Commodities as CEO which specialized in automated trading. He also has three successful startups to his credit. As Co-founder of Marketplace Technologies, he was a key driving force in building Marketplace Technologies into one of India's leading software and IT Services Company focused on stock, commodities, currency and derivatives markets. Marketplace Technologies was acquired by the Bombay Stock Exchange in September 2009 and he joined BSE as Head - Special Initiatives reporting into the MD & CEO. As part of this responsibility, he worked as the Chief Operating Officer of United Stock Exchange a start-up exchange on the Currency Derivatives market space and successfully managed the launch of this exchange till Nov 2010. Currently, he is part of BSE's Executive Management Committee and is the Chief Business Officer responsible for the Trading, Listings, Data and Index business. He also oversees the Training business which is housed under BSE Institute Limited as a Board Member. He also serves in numerous committees of the BSE. He holds the Director Level Designation at Central Depositary Services (India) Limited, Indian Clearing Corporation Limited, BOI Shareholding Limited and The Calcutta Stock Exchange Limited.
