Damian Bierman

Damian Bierman is Head of Asia-Pacific Operations for Portware LLC. His responsibilities include running the company's Hong Kong office, and overseeing client services for the region.
Prior to joining Portware, Damian served as Head of FIX Product Services in Asia-Pacific for Javelin Technologies (a subsidiary of NYFIX, Inc), and ran the NYFIX office in Hong Kong. Damian joined Javelin in 2000 as a Client Manager, serving as the primary technical resource for a long list of buy- and sell-side customers. In 2002 he accepted a role to lead the Javelin Quality Assurance team, and spent the next three years establishing a solid QA process for the company’s industry-leading FIX Technology Suite, building and managing a motivated team of test engineers and product specialists. In 2004, Damian relocated to Hong Kong to establish NYFIX Asia-Pacific, to further develop the company's regional FIX Product offering.
Damian received his B.S. in Cognitive Science from Carnegie Mellon University in May 1997.
Christopher Brown

Christopher Brown is currently a London based Director, Autobahn Equity Sales at Deutsche Bank.
Prior to that, Christopher was Executive Director, Regional Business Development at Chi-X Asia Pacific. He was responsible for sales, client on boarding and ongoing support at Chi-X; supporting all brokerage and proprietary trading firm participants in the 3 Asian venues, Chi-X Japan, Chi-X Australia and Chi-east. Christopher, in this role, also managed all relationships with the institutional buyside and Hedge Fund community of traders that trade electronically and access indirectly Chi-X’ alternative venues. Prior to Chi-X Global, Christopher was Managing Director and Head of Asia Sales for the Mergermarket Group, responsible for establishing the business in Asia and creating the Asian arm of a multimillion dollar ‘special situations’ intelligence business that was subsequently sold to the Financial Times Group.
Sutat Chew

Mr. Chew Sutat is Head of Sales & Clients and is responsible for the Exchange's distribution network including growing market participation and the Membership base.
Mr. Chew joined SGX in June 2007 and was appointed to the Executive Committee in May 2008. He was previously Group Head, Investment & Treasury Products at Standard Chartered Bank. He was responsible for the Global Wealth Management investment and treasury products business, strategy and development in the bank’s existing geographic franchises as well as new ventures.
Before Standard Chartered Bank, Mr. Chew was with OCBC Securities, where he headed the development of non-traditional investment products and services for its customers. He began his career with DBS Bank in the Custody function, and held varying portfolios in strategic planning and business development for institutional banking, as well as private clients.
Mr. Chew graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (1st Class Honours) degree in Philosophy Politics & Economics (PPE) from Oxford University, Keble College in 1996. He also holds a Master of Arts degree from Oxford.

Zoltan is a Director of Daiwa Capital Markets Hong Kong Ltd. and a member of the Electronic Trading team in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Daiwa he worked as a buy-side trader at State Street where he spent 10 years in technology and trading. He serves as the co-chair of FPL’s Asia Pacific Regional Committee and is also a member of FPL's Global Steering Committee. Previously, he was a member of FPL's Algorithmic Trading Working Group where he helped with the development of FIXatdl (FIX Algorithmic Trading Definition Language) an XML based language used to define algorithmic trading parameters.
John Fildes

E. John Fildes is Director of Strategic Development for GETCO Asia, where he is responsible for relationships with exchanges, regulators and market participants across the region as well as driving the company’s high-frequency trading and market-making strategies in Asian markets.
Previously he was Managing Director and COO, Asia, of Instinet Pacific, responsible for all the operations of Instinet in Asia including Japan. Prior to joining Instinet in 2006 he was with Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong for 10 years where he held positions as the Head of Equity Marketing and Head of Electronic and Program Trading for Asia-Pacific. Before that he was the Head of MSCI for Asia Pacific and was actively involved in the launch of MSCI futures contracts for Taiwan and Singapore on SIMEX. He is the Co-Chair FPL Asia Pacific Regional Committee, and former Board Member of the Stockbrokers Association of Australia.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley Mr. Fildes held various positions in Europe with the Financial Times, Standard and Poor¹s and Reuters.

Médéric is a specialist in structured products on Commodities, working closely with clients over the last 8 years to develop tailor-made commodity solutions.
Médéric joined BNP Paribas in 2004, in the Equities and Commodity Derivatives Structuring team in New York. In 2005, he started working specifically for corporate clients in France and Belgium. In 2007, he was appointed Head of Business Development for institutional clients in Germany and Austria. Since 2010, Médéric is the Head of Commodity Investment Business Development Asia ex-Japan, covering clients in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia, Korea and Malaysia. Prior to joining the company, he worked at Credit Agricole in Paris, in the Commodity & Equity Derivatives Structuring team.
Médéric graduated from the ‘Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees’ (French Engineering School) and holds a Masters degree in Mathematics, majoring in Finance.

Ronald Gould is Managing Director of the Promontory Financial Group, one of the world’s leading advisors to governments and financial institutions in countries around the world. Promontory is now expanding its geographic footprint across Asia. Previously, Ron was Chief Executive of Chi-X Asia Pacific where he drove the creation of new trading markets in the region. Chi-X was a leader in the development of alternative trading venues.
Gould was Senior Advisor at the UK Financial Services Authority and throughout the global financial crisis, played an important role in the re-structuring of financial institutions and the supervision of complex investment organisations. He was the Chief Executive Officer/Founder of ABG Sundal Collier ASA ("ABGSC"), a listed specialist investment bank with activities in investment research, securities trading, corporate finance and asset management.
Prior to ABGSC, Mr. Gould was Senior Executive Vice President and Managing Director of AXA Investment Managers, the AXA Group holding company for investment management activities where he created that firm’s international and quant business lines. He was previously Vice Chairman of Barclays asset management businesses, where he built that Group’s extensive international expansion including creation of BGI.
Mr. Gould’s career in the investment business includes research, portfolio management, institutional and mutual fund business development. He was the founder of one of the first international investment groups in the US, one of the first foreign owned Trust Banks in Japan and successful investment management companies in Asia, Japan, the UK and continental Europe.
Mr. Gould is an economics graduate of Washington University. Married with two children, he is an avid ocean sailor, an undistinguished skier and an active consumer of Japanese history.
Jeremy Grant

Jeremy Grant will be the Asia Regional Corporate correspondent for the Financial Times based in Singapore from May 2012. He will cover Singapore, Malaysia, financial and business news and analysis from across South East Asia in conjunction with the FT’s correspondents based in the region. Jeremy will regularly contribute to Companies and Markets’ Inside Asia column. He will also provide exchanges, clearing, high-frequency trading and market structures coverage from the region for FT Trading Room.
Previously, Jeremy Grant edited and wrote for FT Trading Room from London, which he launched in 2009. FT Trading Room is a section of FT.com providing a single source of intelligence for trading, exchanges, clearing, settlement, financial markets regulation and trading technology,
His background in exchanges coverage started with an assignment as Chicago & Midwest correspondent for the FT (2002-05), covering US derivatives exchanges. He then spent three years in Washington, DC covering financial regulation focused on the Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
In Chicago, Grant also held the posts of US Automotive Correspondent and US Consumer Industries Correspondent (including food, obesity and agriculture).
He returned to the FT’s London office in March 2008, as Senior Corporate Reporter covering British business news and trends, as well as stock and derivatives exchanges/clearing and emerging trading platforms in Europe.
Grant started at the FT as the paper’s first Vietnam Correspondent based in Hanoi (1994-98), followed by reporting in the London-based Capital Markets team and over three years as European companies page editor. He also reported from the FT’s Frankfurt and Zurich bureaux.

K.C. Lam was appointed Director and Head of FX Business Line in Asia for CME Group in November 2007. He is responsible for helping to execute CME Group's Asian FX business strategy including developing new FX products and services and increasing trading volume and distribution of FX futures and options on CME Globex®, the exchange's electronic trading platform. He is also responsible for promoting CME Group’s OTC FX Clearing services through ClearPort, further diversifying the company's customer base and building product awareness across the region.
Prior to joining the company, Lam served as Head of Sales for ICAP E-Broking in Asia, where he was responsible for leading the firm's new and existing product sales efforts throughout the Asia Pacific region. He had oversight responsibility for launching several currency pairs and recruiting 48 new customers, including the seven largest banks in China. Prior to joining ICAP E-Broking, Lam held regional leadership positions with Siebel Systems, Inc. and Commerce One Inc. with a particular emphasis on Asian operations. He has also held VP marketing and consulting positions with both Oracle Corporation and Booz-Allen & Hamilton.
Lam earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from National University of Singapore and a MBA from the UK. Quentin joined BNP Paribas in 2007 where he was responsible for the development of the electronic trading platform in Japan. After the successful launch there, he spent two years in expanding the platform and execution team in Hong Kong. He has been running the BEATS business for the region since 2009.
Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Quentin was with TradingScreen, an American company based in Japan. He was Head of Sales for Asia Pacific as well as a partner of the firm.
Quentin was the Co-Chair FPL Singapore Working Group in 2011. He obtained a Master's degree in Management from EMLYON Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Lyon. He was majoring in Quantitative Analysis.

Mr. Molina joined Franklin Templeton Investments in 1997 as an equity trader in their FL, USA office. In 2002 he relocated to Hong Kong where he became regional head of equity trading with responsibility for opening Franklin Templeton’s domestic trading desks in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, India and China.
Prior to joining Franklin Templeton Investments, George traded Asian and Latin American Securities for Scudder Stevens & Clark in New York City. Jessica Morrison

Jessica Morrison is the Head of Asia Pacific Market Structure for Deutsche Bank. A role that is still new to Asia, she focuses on the effect that changes in regulation and technology have on trading behaviours in Equity products. Quantitative data including volumes, turnovers, volatility, correlation and spreads are considered to look for changes and trend, this analysis is then used for both internal positioning and for Deutsche Bank clients.
Jessica actively participates in industry consultations, lobbying and speaks at Deutsche Bank client education events on topics such as the recent SFC short position reporting requirements. Having moved to Hong Kong in January 2011, Jessica has worked for Deutsche since early 2009, initially in Compliance. Ms. Quinn earned a Bachelor of Business (Finance and Law) from the University of Technology, Sydney. She started her career in finance with AMP Henderson Global Investors. She became Head of Trading for AllianceBernstein Australia 2009 and in 2011 saw her responsibilities expand to include Asia Pacific fixed income and equities.
Emma is currently a member of Asia Trader Forum and is a member of the Sydney and Asia Advisory Boards for Quorum 15. Emma was inaugural chairperson of the Australian Buy-side Traders' advisory board and an active member of the ASX Buy-side Traders' Forum. Laura Ryan is a Sales Manager for Eze Castle Software based in Singapore. She is responsible for APAC sales for the Order Management System and its modules. Prior to joining Eze Castle in 2012, Laura was with Tora Trading leading sales for SE Asia, India and Australia. After working with Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC Partners in NY, Laura moved to Singapore in 2005 and became Head of Ecommerce at BGC Partners Asia overseeing distribution for electronic brokerage services for fixed income and FX products.
With her strong network in the Singapore financial market Laura has helped boost the Singapore FPL Working group’s presence with two successful FPL Briefings in 2010 and 2011 acting as the Event Committee Chair. Laura holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Economics from Bucknell University.

Having joined Morgan Stanley in New York in 2000, Joseph has been based in Hong Kong since 2007. Prior to moving to Hong Kong, Joseph was responsible for MSET's North American listed derivatives business. Prior to joining HKMEx, Mr. Van den Brande was Managing Director of Iflex Consulting (Asia-Pacific) Pte. Ltd., responsible for managing the company's strategy, management and development in the Asia-Pacific region. From 1998 to 2006 he was a founding partner of financial markets consultancy Capco. He launched and managed its Asia operations. Mr. Van den Brande joined Capco from IBM, where he was Global Business Development Manager for Capital Markets Solutions. During this period he played key roles in some of the major infrastructure projects such as CLS (Continuous Linked Settlement), the real time settlement system for foreign exchange trades and Deutsche Borse Clearing AG.

Mr. V. Balasubramaniam (Bala) has more than 2 decades of experience in managing business and technology operations in the capital markets and derivatives market industry. He did his Masters in Commerce from the University of Mumbai and a Rank holder from the Institute of Costs and Works Accountants of India. He is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor.
He was part of the Core team involved in setting up the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and played a key role in the setting up of NSE trading systems for the Equity segment, creation of indices (Nifty 50), introduction of Certification program and Equity Derivatives market segment of NSE. Post his tenure at NSE, he joined the Reliance Group and worked there for a decade where he was involved in numerous initiatives including handling the automation efforts for various verticals in the group. He also set up and operated the brokerage business at Basis Point Securities and Basis Point Commodities as CEO which specialized in automated trading. He also has three successful startups to his credit. As Co-founder of Marketplace Technologies, he was a key driving force in building Marketplace Technologies into one of India's leading software and IT Services Company focused on stock, commodities, currency and derivatives markets. Marketplace Technologies was acquired by the Bombay Stock Exchange in September 2009 and he joined BSE as Head - Special Initiatives reporting into the MD & CEO. As part of this responsibility, he worked as the Chief Operating Officer of United Stock Exchange a start-up exchange on the Currency Derivatives market space and successfully managed the launch of this exchange till Nov 2010. Currently, he is part of BSE's Executive Management Committee and is the Chief Business Officer responsible for the Trading, Listings, Data and Index business. He also oversees the Training business which is housed under BSE Institute Limited as a board member. He also serves in numerous committees of the BSE.

Tae Seok Clement Yoo serves as Senior Vice President, Platform Development and Strategy which is responsible for identifying, evaluating and developing specific new initiatives, platforms, products and services with HKEx primary business units. He is also responsible for formulating HKEx's strategic plan and high-level strategy, as well as evaluating and pursuing, if appropriate, strategic alliances and partnerships with technology providers, industry participants and regional and global exchanges and trading platforms.
Yoo has 18 years of financial market and derivatives industry experience. Prior to joining HKEx, he served 15 years at CME Group as Special Advisor to Chief Operating Officer, Director of Equity Products and Asia Head of Strategic Sales with responsibilities for developing and executing CME Group’s business strategy. He also held various key roles in CME Group’s corporate development strategy and clearing house risk management division. Prior to joining CME, he was an Associate Vice President of Asia Business Development at Sumitomo Mitsui Bank (formerly Sakura Dellsher, Inc.) and at Goldman Sachs & Co. in Chicago.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame, MBA from the Stuart School of Business at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and GSAL program at the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business. He has been named an inventor on nine U.S. patents on derivatives risk management applications.
