Rehan Ahmed
Director, Fixed Income Trading

Rehan Ahmed is a Director of Fixed Income Trading at SGX, looking after product development and third party integration for SGX’s OTC bond trading platform - SGX Bond Pro. Within his role, he is responsible for local currency product development and STP initiatives with fixed income buyside/sellside systems for SGX Bond Pro.

Rehan began his career at Bear Stearns (London) trading analytics desk in 2005 and subsequently held positions within trading/syndication (UBS AG) and portfolio management (CDC Group UK). He has been based in Asia since 2010, where he joined Bloomberg L.P.’s Fixed Income trading team and oversaw a number of regional market trading initiatives such as the launch of Pakistan’s first online debt auction system and Sri Lanka’s interdealer debt trading platform. He joined SGX in 2014 from IDFC Securities (Singapore) where he was responsible for overseeing India access products for global investors.

Rehan attended Ecole Sciences-Po (Paris) before attaining his Bachelor in Commerce from Concordia University (Montreal) and subsequently a Masters in Science from the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE).

Sanjay Awasthi is a Director at Eastspring Investments (Singapore) Limited (formerly Prudential Asset Management). Sanjay has close to 20 years of experience in the Securities Market and is actively trading equity and derivatives in India and other markets in the region.

Anthony Bowyer

Anthony Bowyer is currently the Director of Noviscient and the Director of Blue Ocean Financial Technologies. Previously he spent 5 years at Instinet Singapore as Vice President Sales for South East Asia. Prior to that he was at Fimat SNC Australia in Electronic Trading for Listed Derivatives and Options. He has also worked for Reuters PLC and Thomson Financial in both London and Hong Kong focusing on trading and research solutions. He was also the Co-Chair of the Singapore Working Group for FIX Trading Community in 2014-2016.

He has a Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian National University.

Wai Kin Chan

Wai Kin Chan is the Head of Distribution for XTX Markets Asia. Prior to joining XTX Markets, a leading quantitative-driven electronic market-maker, he was the Head of FICC eCommerce Distribution, Bank Sales, Prime Brokerage for Morgan Stanley Asia Pacific. Wai Kin has also held senior roles at Deutsche Bank and spent time in Technology, Quants, Development & Support at Barclays Capital and JPMorgan.

Marcus Consolini

Ian Domowitz

Ian Domowitz, who joined ITG in 2001, also is a fellow at Columbia University in the Program in the Law and Economics of Capital Markets. Previously, he was the Mary Jean and Frank P. Smeal Professor of Finance at Pennsylvania State University and the Household International Research Professor of Economics at Northwestern University.

He also has been head of the NASD’s economic advisory board and has held positions with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, International Monetary Fund, and World Bank. He has published dozens of journal articles on financial economics and market structure.

Domowitz holds an honors B.A. from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, and a Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego.

Paul Durrant

Conduit Securities is a Singapore-based equity and fixed income execution dealer. Prior to this his most recent role was Managing Director, Head of FIC Trading at Commerzbank, Asia responsible for Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange and Rates and Derivatives Trading. Prior to this, he ran diverse trading and syndicate departments in London, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore, for BNP Paribas, Bear Stearns, Drexel Burnham Lambert and Merrill Lynch. Based in Asia for the last 25 years he began his career in Corporate Finance covering European sovereign and corporate credits.

Paul holds a BA and MA in Law from Cambridge University.

David Gurle

Jay Hurley

Jay is the regional head of electronic FX trading, APAC for State Street since joining the firm in 2016. Prior to this, Jay spent five years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong and eight years at Morgan Stanley in both London and Hong Kong in electronic FX trading. He has spent his 18 year financial services career in electronic trading starting in equities at Morgan Stanley and UBS.

Jay is a ten year veteran of the FIX community: he has co-chaired the FX Technical Subcommittee, the FX Committee, and was elected to co-chair the OTC Products Committee in 2014 and is an active member of the Asia Pacific Steering Committee.

Jay received a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh.

Nizam Ismail

Nizam Ismail is Partner and Head of Regulatory Practice of RHTLaw Taylor Wessing LLP. He is co-founder of RHT Compliance Solutions, a dedicated financial services compliance consultancy/solutions provider in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

Nizam has worked with regulators, exchanges, markets, banks, broker-dealers, commodities firms, fund managers, trust companies, financial advisers and corporates in a wide range of regulatory compliance and legal issues.

Nizam has 25 years of experience and expertise in financial services regulatory compliance and litigation.

He was formerly Executive Director and Head of Compliance for Southeast Asia in Morgan Stanley Singapore before joining the Firm. Nizam was also Senior Vice President and Head of Compliance for Southeast Asia at Lehman Brothers Singapore, Executive Director (Legal and Compliance) in Nomura Singapore and Senior Legal Counsel of Citigroup (Corporate and Investment Bank).

Nizam spent six years as a regulator at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, where he was Deputy Director and Head of the Market Conduct Policy Division. There, Nizam worked on various policy reviews relating to the capital markets, including various policy reviews leading to the enactment of the Securities and Futures Act, the Financial Advisers Act and the Business Trust Act.

Nizam started his career as a Deputy Public Prosecutor/State Counsel at the Commercial Affairs Department, where he prosecuted corporate and securities fraud cases, including corruption, cheating, criminal breach of trust, insider trading and market manipulation.

Raghav Kapoor

Josephine Kim

Josephine Kim is responsible for Bank of America Merrill Lynch's Global Execution Services (GES) Sales in Asia. Josephine actively participates in industry consultations through various expert opinion editorials and events across Asia. She is also a Co-Chair of FIX Trading Community Singapore Working Group.

Fieke Korporaal

Fieke Korporaal, who joined Flow Traders in March 2016, is responsible for Business Development at Flow Traders Asia based in Singapore. Fieke is the primary liaison between the firm and the financial industry strategic partners and she is responsible for the firm’s strategic growth and development. Fieke has more than 10 years of experience in the securities and derivatives markets and she holds a Master of Science degree in Business Economics, (specialism in derivatives and financial markets) from the University of Amsterdam.

Jason Lapping

Jason Lapping heads Dimensional's trading desk for Asia Pacific. His focus is on ensuring the firm's execution strategies and technological infrastructure region meet the highest standards in the region.

Dimensional is a leading global investment manager that has been translating academic research into practical investment solutions since 1981. The firm has 12 offices in eight countries and manages more than AUD$550 billion for institutional investors and the clients of fee-based advisors.

Originally from South Africa, Jason studied economics at the University of Cape Town, before moving to London to start his career in the financial sector.

Jason has been at Dimensional since 2010. He brings deep knowledge and experience of global markets, including in depth knowledge of Asia Pacific's unique market microstructure. Much of Jason's experience was garnered over 14 years working around the world with Societe Generale in their equities derivatives division and heading desks in London, Paris, Hong Kong and Sydney.

Reporting to Glenn Crane in Sydney, Jason works with a regional team of seven traders and is an integral part of an international trading network headed by the London-based John Romiza.

Ken Lee

Ken Lee has 24 years of experience in investment banking, global markets and investment research. In November 2015, Ken founded Belleview Research (BVR) together with his partner Alvin Wong. Prior to BVR, Ken was the Head of Asia for 13D Research (a renowned independent investment research firm), where he founded its Hong Kong Office in 2010 and spearheaded its Asia operations. Ken has built strategic footprint for 13D - in terms of research and business development - with the senior management of sovereign wealth funds, central banks, insurance companies, banks, corporates, family offices and other financial institutions.

Ken is a regular speaker in major forums and conferences. The most recent ones are the Yabuli Chinese Entrepreneurs Forum, the Australian Leadership Retreat organized by the Australian Davos Connection, Beirut Institute Summit, the Australian Investment Conference organized by the Australia CFA Institute, and the Asian Bankers Association (ABA) Conference recently held in Taipei.

Ken spent 14 years in Goldman Sachs on its sales and trading floor prior to joining 13D. Ken was appointed Managing Director of Goldman Sachs in 2003 and Head of the Corporate Sales Group, where he managed a team of professionals and covered hundreds of institutional clients across the Asia ex-Japan region.

Before joining Goldman Sachs in 1996, Ken started his career in the Fixed Income Division of Sumitomo Bank Capital Markets. He graduated in 1992 from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a bachelor degree of business administration (concentration in finance).

John Lim

Mr. Lim has been with Eastspring Investments trading Asia Pac Equities for the past 10 years. Part of Prudential Corp Asia, Eastspring Investments is Prudential's asset management business in Asia with about US$140bil under management as at June 2016.

On the desk, he is part of a team of 8 covering most asset classes ranging from fixed income to equities, including derivatives and F&O. Main markets under his cover include Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore. Started career on the sell side with more than 10 years’ experience trading South East Asian markets before switching lanes.

Edward Mangles

Mr. Edward Mangles is the founder and Publisher of GlobalTrading, the official publication of the FIX Trading Community. He has a long history within the financial technology sector and has worked closely with FIX Trading Community for a number of years. He has supported the organisation’s Asia Pacific committee for the past 13 years, playing a key role in promoting FIX adoption across the region. He has also worked for leading financial publishing and marketing firms in both London and Hong Kong. In March 09 Mr. Edward Mangles was appointed FIX Trading Community Asia Pacific Regional Director.

Kelly McKenney

Kelly McKenney is head of distribution for Asia (ex-Japan), responsible for Tradeweb’s buy-side client relationships in the region. He also works very closely with the banks to strengthen the liquidity provision across asset classes on the Tradeweb platform. Mr. McKenney joined the company in September 2006 as Director of Sales, responsible for France.

Prior to joining Tradeweb, he was Director of Sales for France and Benelux at MarketAxess, selling e-trading fixed income solutions to institutional investors and banks. Before this role, he spent 9 years at Deutsche Bank/Bankers Trust where he was a Vice-President in the Futures and Options Division, based in Paris and London. Mr. McKenney’s role was sales and execution of derivative solutions for institutional clients. His first position in financial markets was with Societe Generale in Paris where he was responsible for selling OTC bond options and warrants.

Mr. McKenney graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 1991 with an MBA – Finance Specialisation. His undergraduate degree was received from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada in 1987 where he obtained a BSC(Honours) in Geology.

Dan O’Brien

Dan has spent a decade working in the credit markets. He started his career with a boutique distressed debt brokerage in London and in 2012 moved to Asia. In APAC Dan's spent two years focusing on High yield credit, but in January 2015 he joined UBS to take on a totally new challenge, Bond Port. Dan has been integral in establishing UBS' credit e-platform in APAC, and has been a key stakeholder in establishing UBS' role of general counterparty with SGX's e-offering Bond Pro.

Away from finance Dan has a broad range of interests and qualifications. He holds a degree in Archaeology and Anthropology from the University of Durham.

Ned Phillips is the Founder of Bambu. A B2B Robo Advisor based in Singapore that offers digital wealth services to all companies looking to tap into the rapid change of financial technology. Bambu started in February 2016 and within two months secured its first contract. Bambu has partnered with world leading companies such as Thomson Reuters to create a cutting edge Robo Advisory service that is scalable and useable by our customers.

He has been based in Asia for 25 years. Having been in FinTech since 1999, he has been through the first dot com wave in the early 2000's with E*TRADE. Ned was part of the transformation of stock exchange technology with the SGX and Chi-X in the late 2000's and early part of this decade and now see this FinTech wave as the culmination of the advances over the last 20 years.

Bambu is positioned to be a leading FinTech player through Asia.

Tom Starke

Tom Starke has a PhD in Physics and works as an algorithmic trader at Vivienne Court. He has a keen interest mathematical modelling and machine learning in the financial markets. He has previously lectured computer simulation at Oxford University and lead strategic research projects for Rolls-Royce Plc. Tom is very active in the quantitative trading community, running workshops for Quantopian, teaching people quantitative analysis techniques, and organising algorithmic trading meetup groups such as Cybertraders Sydney.

Based on his physics background Tom has a keen interest in new technologies and recently co-organised the world's first quantum-computing hackathon in collaboration with Qx-Branch, where participants had to solve financial optimisation problems.

Scott Treloar

Scott has 20 years of financial markets experience with investment banks and hedge funds.

He is currently working with Noviscient (www.noviscient.com), a technology-led, research and proprietary trading firm based in Singapore. Noviscient applies statistical and machine learning technologies to investment management challenges. Prior to this he was Chief Risk Officer and Portfolio Manager at Vulpes Investment Management. Scott also spent eight years with Deutsche Bank in Singapore heading a quantitative team covering modeling and valuation risk for the Bank’s Asian trading businesses. And before that he worked in venture capital with Macquarie Bank in Sydney.

Scott has a BEng and an MBA from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Quantitative Finance from the University of Technology, Sydney and he is completing a PhD in Finance with EDHEC.

He is a fanatic about open source software, online algorithms and Python (although he can write a bit of C if pressed).

Phil Weaver

Phil Weaver, Managing Director Global Operations at WorldQuant, is responsible for all trading and clearing capabilities across the firm. In this role Phil defines the strategy for WorldQuants access to equity, futures and FX markets and the accompanying technology. Prior to his 9-year stint at WorldQuant Phil spent a year with Bloomberg developing software for their Hedge Fund Trading System after graduating from the University of York with a bachelor in Computer Science. As a bit of a geek Phil enjoys interacting with electronic markets and feels uncomfortable when he has to go high touch.

Tae Yoo

Tae Seok Clement Yoo serves as Managing Director in Client and Marketing Services at HKEX. His department is responsible for Client Relationship Management, including key relationships between HKEX and their intermediaries, global buyside, and custodians and trusts bank.

Since joining HKEX in 2011, he was co-head of platform development & strategy and head of product & index development. Yoo has over 20 years of financial industry experience with 14 years at CME Group in business development, sales and risk management in Chicago and Asia. Prior to CME, he worked at Sumitomo Mitsui Bank (Sakura Dellsher, Inc.) and at Goldman Sachs & Co. in Chicago.

Yoo holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, MBA from the Stuart School of Business at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and GSAL program at the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business. He has been named an inventor on nine U.S. patents on derivatives risk management applications.
